Senior scientist retired from the CNRS(French National Scientific Research Center) at CESBIO (Centre d’Etude Spatiales de la Biosphère, Toulouse, France) et du GET (Géosciences Environnement Toulouse, from ILRI (International Livestock Research Institute, Nairobi, Kenya) and from ILCA (International Livestock Center in Africa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia).

Main activities

Ecology of sub-humid, semi-arid and arid savannas in West Africa : primary production, seasonal, interannual and long term dynamics. Modelling the primary production and the impact of pastoral use.

Study of the dynamics of agrarian systems in Arid and semi-arid zones of West Africa: pastoral husbandry, crop-livestock mixed farming, organic and mineral cycles, intensification of production systems.

Agroecosystem mapping: vegetation, fodder resources, geomorphology, land-use and land tenure. Quantitative remote sensing methods: vegetation cover and mass, crop yields.
