Ecology of sub-humid, semi-arid and arid savannas in West Africa : primary production, seasonal, interannual and long term dynamics. Modelling the primary production and the impact of pastoral use.

Study of the dynamics of agrarian systems in Arid and semi-arid zones of West Africa: pastoral husbandry, crop-livestock mixed farming, organic and mineral cycles, intensification of production systems.

Agroecosystem mapping: vegetation, fodder resources, geomorphology, land-use and land tenure. Quantitative remote sensing methods: vegetation cover and mass, crop yields.
