Professor emeritus of the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin en Yvelines: economics of environment and natural resources; development of less developed countries, especially in arid and semi arid zones; international cooperation; expert for the French ministry of foreign affairs and the United nations convention on desertification.

Member of the scientific committee of the French fund for global environment, in charge of land degradation projects. Member of the strategic committee of the OSS, in charge of the “OSS stategy 2020” document. Seminars in the master on development of the University d’Auvergne (CERDI) and in various Universities.

Main activities

Member of the French scientific committee on desertification and honorary chairman; ex member of the steering committee of the Desernet International (DNI); in charge of the redaction of various scientific  documents on land degradation, desertification and sustainable land management; in charge of the redaction of the French report to the United nations convention on desertification since 2000.

Specialist of the questions related to indicators: assessment indicators, evaluation of the impacts of development project on sustainable land management.
