The development of productivist agriculture in the South includes the irreversible disappearance of many natural environments, genetic resources of cultivated, partially domesticated or wild species, and also of their interactions. The role of the human societies in the processes of domestication is important. The biodiversity protection includes the conservation of natural habitats and the need to develop ex situ conservatories and in situ actions. The capacity to produce agroforestry resources adapted to the changing conditions is an absolute priority. It is urgent to maintain collections of genetic resources, including varieties, to improve the low cost methods of vegetative propagation for the best genotypes, to widen the base of the genetic resources by investigations, mainly in fragile zones and to study the adequate methods of in situ conservation.
